Permanent, full-time
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £17,869 per annum

The role

Reporting to the Domus Manager, the College Caretaker will work as part of a small team, providing great customer service, maintaining external and Housekeeping storage areas to a high standard, assisting with furniture moves and storage, and managing recycling and waste removal collections.

You will be able to use good organisational and time management skills to prioritise your workload to meet deadlines and will be willing to lend others a helping hand when necessary. You’ll have a head for heights when cleaning external light fittings and replacing lamp shades, and will assist with litter and seasonal leaf clearance. You’ll also be part of a snow and ice clearing team to keep our students, staff, Fellows, visitors and conference guests safe during the winter months.

You’ll join the College at an exciting time of development and expansion, with refurbishments of the Servery and College Bar, and the building of a new Library and Auditorium, which will be completed in September 2020.

Our ideal candidate

With previous experience in a Caretaker or similar role, the successful applicant will have excellent interpersonal skills, organisational, time management and planning skills. You’ll be a team player, with a positive ‘can do’ attitude, a flexible approach to tasks and the ability to cope with a varied and demanding workload.

You will have knowledge of the correct usage and application of a wide range of cleaning products, and the ability to achieve and maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness. The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate a pro-active approach to tasks, and eye for detail and the ability to report and follow up areas of concern.

You must also be physically fit, able to lift and transport items of furniture and refuse bins and have a valid UK driving licence.
