We're looking for an experienced and enthusiastic soft fruit Growing Manager to join a leading independent soft fruit grower. Established over 25 years ago, our client has grown from running one farm to now operating sites in the UK and abroad. You will be based in Kent on a state-of-the-art soft fruit table top production unit.
The Job:
It would be your job to grow high quality, high yielding soft fruit crops at our client's farm in Kent. You'll do this by taking responsibility for:
All pre-planting and planting activities including tunnel and trough preparation, stock control and supervising the planting operations.
All plant husbandry tasks including irrigation, fertigation and crop protection.
Accurately recording yield information and ensuring field maps are up to date.
Ensuring environment systems are controlled, monitoring pests and disease and implementing IPM strategies.
Ensuring compliance to all customer and legal requirements and legislations.
Keeping your team motivated, productive and happy.
The Person:
The person will be a talented grower who has significant experience of working with soft fruit such as strawberries, raspberries or blackberries on a large, commercial scale.
You will also:
Have a strong understanding of how to run a commercial soft fruit farming operation.
Strong planning and organisation skills to ensure positive results in terms of cost, quality and timelines.
Be an excellent communicator and team manager who is able to develop strong working relationships with others.
Preferably, you will be FACTS & BASIS qualified, have experience in using PRIVA and hold your PA1, 2, 6a & b certificates.
