At the heart of this is our large Hadoop based Enterprise Data Platform that is used to provide data insights both to our internal teams and our customers. The Enterprise Data Platform (EDP) is an innovative use of "Big Data" technologies to provide powerful analytic capabilities for Worldpay.
Your key responsibility will be to ensure that the Hadoop platform at the heart of this initiative is secure, available, performant and fit for purpose.
This is a great opportunity to expand your existing skills in the Hortonworks Data Platform and the related tools in an innovative and passionate environment.
How will you add value on a day-to-day basis?
Individually, and as part of the team, execute and deliver analysis and specification of data requirements, data models and functional & non-functional requirements for use cases of EDP, and verify that delivered data sets meet these requirements. Work with consumers of EDP data to establish correct and complete requirements. Significantly contribute to, and often lead on, the quality assurance of the team's deliverables. Contributing to the prioritisation and planning of the analysis and specification of requirements and models for use cases of EDP. Significantly contribute to, and often lead on, technical standards for analysis, specification and data modelling. Significantly contribute to, and often lead on, improving and automating the Data Analysis processes. Significantly and pro-actively participate in relationships with the payment and business support platforms that feed EDP, including requesting changes in the sources. Significantly contribute to the implementation and management of the end-to-end requirements approach for EDP (source analysis, target analysis, data modelling, requirements specification, stakeholder liaison, delivery verification). Act as a technical SME for some or all of the tools used by the Business and Data Analysis team for data modelling, data interrogation, analysis & verification, requirements documentation, and for work & issue management.
What do you need to be the right candidate?
You must have a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 7+ years experience of business analysis and specification for complex projects. 15+ years of total experience in IT projects. Data modelling experience, to the level of constructing a normalised data model for a business domain, with appropriate data typing. Advanced analytical and problem solving skills. Demonstrable working knowledge of basic standard SQL. Experience in Payments or Financial Institutions. Coding experience at a level good enough to support the development of automation scripts. Experience as Lead Analyst. Exposure to repository-based data modelling tools (we use SAP PowerDesigner). Experience in ETL projects. Ability to determine and document requirements for delivery of business value. Sensitivity to security & lifecycle management requirements of personal financial data. Ability to document requirements traceability. The ability and willingness to create and maintain concise, accurate, readable, relevant documentation on our wiki. Discipline for working with a ticketing system. Ability to prioritise effectively in order to be productive in a highly dynamic environment. Understanding of Windows operating systems
