Account Manager - Utilities - no cold-calling! Max GBP24k plus 10% bonus - London

Salary: GBP22,000 - GBP24,000 plus up to 10% bonus and benefits (2% pension contribution)

THE COMPANY:

This is an established, successful and growing licensed gas and water supplier and shipper. They now need an enthusiastic, computer-literate individual with previous experience of customer services and the utilities industry to fill an account management role. This is about looking after existing customers: There is no cold-calling or sales pressure here, but if you do bring in extra business you will be rewarded!

The working environment is very friendly and secure in this family-run business, consequently they are seeking people for whom this could be a long-term proposition.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

The following experience and attributes are essential for this role:

  • Previous experience in the utilities industry
  • At least 2 years of commercial experience in customer services
  • Computer literate with good knowledge of MS Office
  • Valid UK driving license

Please note the above attributes and experience are essential: You require all of the above to be eligible for this role.

PLEASE NOTE:
You must have previous experience in the utilities industry: There is no point applying if you do not.

THE ROLE:

This is a new position due to their recent expansion into the water market: Their growth now warrants having an Account Manager focussed solely on the water industry. This is an account management role, so it's all about looking after existing customers: There is no sales pressure on you here, no targets and no cold-calling. However, if you do manage to bring in an increase in business, you will be rewarded with a bonus!

The crux of the role is to manage the commercial relationship with existing customers, calculating quotations and invoices for water supply and building long-term relationships with customers.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

The opportunity here stems from the fact that this is a relatively new area for the company, the first position of its kind and all the growth opportunities that situation brings.

Longer-term, opportunities arise from the fact that this company is constantly growing and expanding: They were initially solely gas, are now gas and water and are now in the process of moving into electricity as well, so there will be new positions arising from their move into other utilities, of which this vacancy is one example.

What's the attraction though? Why come here?

This is a small, family-run company with happy staff! People tend not to leave: For example, one of the managers has been there eleven years. He describes it as a safe place to work, meaning that your job there is secure. The hiring manager for this role said We're a small, fast-growing company so there are a lot of opportunities. If they can be loyal to us, we'll be loyal to them and give them the opportunity to grow.
