Starting salary range: GBP25K - GBP30K, DOE

Job Description:

We are looking for a suitable candidate for our Metallurgist role to support the production and technical teams across our two sites. The successful applicant will be expected to spend a minimum of 2 days a week at our heat treatment site in Horley, with the rest of their time used to support the team at the main site in Kent.

About the role - Metallurgist:

The role will include overseeing and reviewing existing heat treatment processes to ensure the continued manufacture of high quality compliant products. The candidate will be expected to help in the development of manufacturing processes and in material analysis and optimisation.

The role will require communication with customers to provide technical support, which can additionally involve site visits, and will call for the flexibility and self-motivation required to work in a dynamic SME.

Skills and experiences:

• Minimum Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy or Materials Science
• Experience in an industrial environment would be an advantage
• Technical documentation skills
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Good communication skills, including liaising with customers
• Ability to work independently

Desirable skills:

• Knowledge of NiFe alloys would be an advantage
• Experience in non-destructive analysis techniques (i.e. X-ray, microstructure interpretation, etc)
• Previous experience with metal heat treatments
