Liberty Merchant Bar PLC is the UK's largest hot rolled steel manufacturer of Merchant Bar. With annual capacity in excess of 300,000 tonnes the business supplies customers across the UK and Europe with hot rolled steel bar products. Our facilities house two fully automated steel rolling mills that utilise state of the art technology providing efficient steel production.


Liberty steel Scunthorpe is currently expanding the Engineering department and has vacancies for experienced and dedicated Mechanical & Electrical craftsperson's. Working a 3-shift rota as part of a team, you will be responsible for the day to day maintenance of the two rolling mills and associated equipment and report to the senior technicians and Engineers. Should be time served and qualified to ONC/HNC in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.

Experience of maintenance within a steel Rolling Mill environment or other medium to heavy sectors would be an advantage and ideally should have at least 5 - 10 years post Apprenticeship experience.It is important that you are a strong team player, a good communicator at all levels, IT literate and capable of working with production, electrical, mechanical and management staff. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join the developing engineering department.

Electrical Technician

Joining a small dedicated team you will require experience of the following:
A.C. Drives & D.C. Drives.

Inverters, Converters & Plc's.

Will be required to respond quickly and effectively to mill requirements using strong problem solving skills while always minimising delays in production. 

Carry out plant investigations to improve performance, operation, safety and to train other personnel when necessary.

Have a knowledge and understanding of the Company Policy with regard to Health and Safety at Work and be responsible for implementation accordingly.
