Travel Trainer

This charity has an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join their successful Travel Training Project teaching young people with disabilities to travel independently to and from school or college using public transport. They are looking for enthusiastic, reliable and confident individuals with strong communication skills, who have the ability to work effectively on their own and as part of a team.

You will work closely with schools, parents and will be required to devise and deliver person-centred travel training to students with disabilities, supporting them to become safe and independent travellers on their routes to school or college.

As their clients Independent Travel Trainer, you will provide community based 1:1 support to young people with special education needs ensuring their safety and wellbeing during training. Ultimately, the training you provide will help enhance their independence and improve their life chances, increasing access to new activities, employment and education.

This is a rewarding opportunity to gain experience in a role supporting young people to learn how to travel independently. Applicants with experience of working with students with learning and/or physical disabilities, behavioural difficulties and particularly in a teaching or training capacity, would be most welcome.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your professional skills and experience, whilst working directly with young people with disabilities and making a lasting difference to their lives. Full training and shadow shifts will be provided to all appointed candidates.

Independent Travel Trainers will be available to work at school drop off and pick up times (approx. 7 - 9 and 2 - 4).

An online DBS would be preferred but can be achieved once you are successful in your application and training.
Position is for Travel Trainer £10 hour contract.
