The Opportunity

Our Client has entered the next phase of its exciting evolution as a world class and dominant European missile company. The growing workload within the business has created an exciting opportunity within the Electronics Design Function for a proactive and motivated engineer to develop a long term career in the PCB Technologies skill area. It is expected to take at least 3 years for an individual to become competent in this role and could lead to the attainment of higher level grades within the organisation, possibly even Technical Expert.

The Electronics Design Function is tasked with supplying a full range of design activities for our complete range of missile systems covering land, air and naval systems.
The Role

The role encompasses the development of knowledge and skills in the PCB Technologies skill area and provides a service to the design engineers as design activities progress.

The main skills of a PCB Technologies Assembly Technology engineer are the understanding of PCB Materials, their characteristics and how we define them for use in our products and critically how they are assembled.

The role encompasses learning about and assessing PCB manufacturing and assembly processes via laboratory work and by working with the Manufacturing centres, primarily it will involve technical and "hands on" support to the technology lab assembly cell for rapid prototyping. Learning about and implementing programming techniques for the assembly equipment, process development, and build of rapid prototypes so that they can be easily introduced into production. Also techniques used to ensure PCB's are able to survive in the military environment will be studied and applied. A main element of this role will be responsibility to provide support to a fast PCB layout and build prototyping service for our engineers.

•Likely have a qualification in Electronics or a closely related subject. This could be ONC, HNC etc.
•Have an interest in engineering and electronics technology and keep up to date in these subjects through reading and experimentation.
•Have an understanding of design processes and the design and development lifecycle.
•Have excellent verbal communication and written communication skills.
•The pro-activeness, motivation, ability and tenacity to deliver a task on time and to cost.
•Willingness to learn and develop skills and competencies and set challenging targets for oneself.
•Possess good problem solving skills.
