Homelessness Officer

Temporary contract to March 2020 with view to extension.

Salary: Grade 6 - £23,866 - £26,470 per annum (rising to £27,358 per annum after five years continuous service) plus £857 Inner Fringe Allowance per annum

Homelessness (out of hours) Call Out duties required as part of a rota with other Officers, for which a payment will be made in accordance with the Collective agreement.

We are seeking to appoint a member of staff for the position of Homelessness Officer to join our Housing Options Team.

The hours of work will be 36 hours for Monday to Friday.

The service deals with applicants who are homeless or threatened with homelessness seeking to resolve their housing situation through various prevention measures. 

If you have an understanding of Homelessness Legislation, Housing Law and have experience working in a Housing or Social Welfare environment, you could be the person we are looking for.

The successful candidate must be a good communicator and be able to deal with people in stressful situations, remaining calm under pressure. You would be responsible for managing your own case load therefore, good organisation skills are key.

This post will provide an opportunity for successful candidate in dealing with members of the public within the new Legislation of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017. 

A casual car allowance will be paid.  You must have a current full drivers licence and use of a car for Council Business.
