Chief Advisor, Economics and Economic Development - The RoleWe have recently launched an ambitious new strategy, which includes a strengthened focus on tackling the underlying economic drivers of global environmental destruction.
Our economy, health, wellbeing and survival depend on environmental systems which are now being pushed to the limit.
There is growing recognition of this problem and this is why we are now taking on the challenge, with others, to tackle the underlying economic drivers, incentives and market failures that need to be addressed to create a truly sustainable economy.
Your remit will be to help design, drive and implement this new strategy, including developing and delivering innovative, high-impact programmes that successfully influence economic and development decision-making.
In particular, you will take responsibility for identifying and providing the evidence needed to make the case for change as well as recommend solutions.
You will provide advice across WWF-UK and give support to the wider Network on the use of economic arguments and economic policy solutions.
You will lead work to integrate economics across our programmes, to enable us to have a greater impact by influencing the decisions that matter most for the natural world.
You will provide intellectual leadership and help WWF achieve greater influence with the UK and other governments, as well as the private sector, and shape our work to understand and influence development planning, economic growth and poverty reduction.Chief Advisor, Economics and Economic Development - RequirementA graduate in economics, you must have extensive experience of working on economics and development-related issues.
This will have given you a good understanding of how economic and development planning is undertaken in a variety of contexts internationally, and the ways in which ecosystems and the environment can be reflected in this decision-making.You will have experience of providing strategic leadership to organisations and programmes of work.
