Head of IT Applications - Heavy Industry - North West

Arnold Ash have been retained by one of the UK's leading Power Generation companies to identify and attract a Head of IT Applications for their IT and OT environment.

The Head of IT Applications is accountable for running, maintaining and developing all IT applications. The primary purpose of the role is to ensure that all applications are reliable and performant and that developments (from small changes up to large projects, including new system implementations) are delivered and tested in line with agreed plans and budgets. The role holder will lead a sizeable team of around 35 employees and will manage significant contracts for service with 3rd parties such as Software vendors and suppliers of IT services. The team consists of Applications Support, Development and Test & QA resources.

The successful Head of IT Applications will have:

• Proven experience in leading a function that supports and develops a complex IT application estate
• Experience in Heavy industry IT/OT (FTSE 250)
• Strong understanding of IT capabilities and how to recruit the best talent
• Strong understanding of day to day IT service delivery, including the management of 3rd parties to delivery these services
• Strong understanding of different application design, development and testing methodologies and approaches
• Strong strategic thinker with superior analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Previous experience of working as part of a senior leadership team alongside senior business stakeholders, as well as software development and engineering teams, demonstrating the technical and influencing skills to be credible with these audiences
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with, motivate, influence and challenge a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
• Strong writing and presentation skills
• Effective, working IT relationships with Corporate and Group IT
