HEAD OF GOVERNANCE

Guildford Education Partnership (GEP Academies) is a partnership of seven schools in and around the Guildford area with a common vision of collaboration in order to improve outcomes for our children.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work for GEP Academies’ central team leading on governance and clerking.

Reporting to the CEO, you will be the internal governance expert and be strategically and operationally responsible for the support and guidance needed to maintain and improve governance across the trust, at member schools and related business units.

You will be advising the Board of Trustees and all sub-committees of the Board of their statutory duties and responsibilities, governance procedures and good practice.

You will be managing and developing an effective clerking team who deliver a full governance service across the academy trust.

As part of this role you will be providing a clerking service to the Board of Trustees and also assisting member schools with governance and clerking.

You will also be providing diary management for the CEO and the executive team.

You will have:

• Experience of managing and delivering organisational governance and compliance, ideally within education although this is not essential.

• Knowledge of the principles of good governance.

• Knowledge and experience of the protocols associated with minute taking and agenda setting.

• The ability to build and sustain positive collaborative working relationships with all stakeholders.

• The ability to be both organised and flexible in order to adapt to constantly changing priorities.

• High levels of integrity, probity, discretion and confidentiality.

• High levels of IT literacy.

This is a full time role working 36 hours per week over 52 weeks a year, although a working pattern across 43 weeks of the year, which would be worked 39 weeks term time plus 4 additional weeks, would be considered.
