Mechanical design engineer .A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to join the design team of a well established, highly regarded industry leader and manufacturer of bespoke industrial capital equipment. With over 35 years experience and relationships worldwide within the ceramics,concrete and brick manufacturing sectors they have grown constantly and have recently expanded considerably to meet there increased customer needs.

General

Reporting to the Operations / Technical Director, the applicant will be responsible for delivery of the engineering Designs and specifications, the production of manufacture / installation drawings and schematics, Bill of Materials, Design FMEA, and general arrangements.

The successful applicant will provide support to our team of Mechanical Fitters and Test / Commissioning Engineers through assembly and machine start up, whilst working in collaboration with other in-house design engineers during design.

Responsibilities:

Design and develop new products from initial concepts through to a finished product

Consider function, compliance standards and life requirements

Adhere to the specifications laid down by the sales department whilst being mindful of safety aspects, manufacturing costs and delivery times of the contract.

Produce manufacturing drawings using AutoCAD

Work closely and support production, especially regarding design for manufacture

Validate and verify design functions, using software analysis and calculations

Identify technologies and suppliers, liaising with suppliers where required

Support other teams with continuous in continuous improvement initiatives

Provide technical support to other in-house design teams

Technical support for service and sales teams

Participate in FMEA & PFMEA's

There will be occasions when site visits will have to be made to discuss contracts with the client and gather information regarding the fit of equipment within client's buildings, detailed measurements, building layout, access and services information will need to be gathered during these visits.

Experience and knowledge

Relevant engineering degree (candidates with no degree but extensive, relevant experience will also be considered)

Experience using AutoCAD (experience with other CAD packages may be considered dependant on other skills)

Experience with product design or component design

Experience with a variety of materials; metals, plastics etc.

Knowledge of thermal enclosure linings also desirable but not essential

Knowledge of gas and electric control system also desirable but not essential

Experience with the design of special purpose machinery would be highly desirable but not essential

Experience taking projects from cradle to grave

Excellent communication skills (ability to present design concepts to clients) and IT literate (Microsoft office etc.)

Engineers from a good practical mechanical engineering back grounds with proven experience of Design Engineering in either a project related environment or a product development position.

Mechanical design engineers with either a mechanical design degree or a minimum HNC design to accompany practical mechanical engineering experience.

The successful applicant will ideally have worked inseveral fields of engineering ideally including general fabrication, sheet metal, thermal enclosure linings etc and will have some knowledge of gas and electric control systems.

Design engineers with knowledge of working with in similar industry sectors are highly desirable with appreciation of heating,curing and burner systems. Applicant from relevant HVAC backgrounds will also be considered.

Location: Stoke office based majority of the time with the very occasional national or international travel.

Skills & requirements :

Strong mechanical design skills

Good working knowledge of Mechanical machinery.

Competent in both CAD and related software packages.

Experience of Burner machinery advantageous.

Excellent organisation and administration ability.

Strong communicator able to communicate with customers from varied cultures and ethnic backgrounds and work well in a team.

Excellent attention to detail.

Presentable and self motivated.

Flexible and autonomous.

Prerequisite :

Engineering certifications in mechanical engineering or design.

Full UK drivers licence.

British or EU Passport

Package:

Up to GBP36k

8.30 -5pm Monday - Thursday. Friday 8.30-4.30. 1 hour paid lunch break
