Scottish Borders Council are looking to recruit a Foreperson-Fabrication to provide management support as and when required
Carrying out be-spoke fabricating/engineering projects
Ensuring compliance with Scottish Borders Councils Policies & Procedures within the workshops at all times managing on site safety reps.
Communicate with all workshop customers and management, confirming repair costs and job completion.
Ensure efficient workshop loading to maximize staff and workshop production.
Assist in workshop staff meetings in relation to sickness, employee development, identify training requirements as part of their Personnel Training Plan.
Update records inline with COSSH, LOLER and PUWER regulations.
Monitor vehicle repair standards to comply with Department of Transport tests.
Participate and manage the winter/summer standby out with normal working hours.
Manage the workshop risk assessment and equipment inspections register.
Workshop, site security and safety, will be given high priority at all times.
Maintain accurate workshop time sheets and fleet inspection records.
The post holder may be required to perform duties other than those given in the job description as duties and responsibilities vary depending on the requirements of the service and at times of cover for sickness and annual leave.
Must have attained substantial experience in a busy workshop environment maintaining vehicles Experience within metal fabrication field
Previous experience of day to day running of vehicle workshop.
Understand the application of health and safety regulation within a workshop environment
Familiar with various vehicle diagnostic equipment and interpretation of fault finding codes.
Can demonstrate sound knowledge of Motor Vehicle Examination techniques and be able to diagnose complex faults.
Hold a current driving licence minimum Cat C1 is an essential requirement of this post.
