Electronics Engineer
Location: East Sussex - Uckfield
Salary: GBP35,000 - GBP40,000.
Contract: Full time, permanent.
About the role
We require an Electronics Engineer with a firmware & software capability to work as part of a team to maintain the existing builds, as well as design and redesign new instrumentation to meet the requirements of the business. As part of a small team of engineers, the right person will be responsible for working in a multi-role environment, supporting the manufacturing department, as well as designing future products.
Main Responsibilities:
- Develop new electronic/software instruments and equipment
- Maintain existing and upgrade existing designs to meet legislative requirements, overcome obsolescence and improve performance
- Write and maintain firmware and software
- Propose and prepare electronic specifications to meet functional requirements and negotiate and agree achievable requirements
- Prototype, test and document results, as well as present the test data to others
- Trouble-shoot development and production issues, visiting sites as necessary, contributing to test and inspection plans as necessary
- Liaise with clients to problem solve and support clients with their technical queries
- Liaising with suppliers, sub-contractors and internal and external personnel as required
- Maintain electronic & software information to meet the quality system requirements
- Advise on the content and provide outline and key details required for others to prepare technical support documentation
- Looking for continuous improvement within electronic and software design, and ideas for improving the quality and efficiency of the Company's operations, products and services
- Training other employees in technical and operation matters and above responsibilities, as and when required
Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate would have a good understanding of instrumentation and monitoring systems and be familiar with signal processing and instrumentation
- HND or degree level in electronics or equivalent
- Proven track record of electronics product development and design experience
- Capable of applying knowledge to troubleshoot and propose solutions for electronics-related issues
- Able to work autonomously as well as part of a team
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Good computer literacy skills
- Although office based, there will be occasional needs to travel to client sites, worldwide. The right applicant must be able to travel without restriction and hold a British passport
