LOCATION: Oxford, Oxfordshire - to cover Oxford Crown & Magistrates courts
JOB TITLE: Court Custody Manager / Prisoner Custody Officer
SALARY & BENEFITS: GBP26,141.33 plus demographic allowance plus great benefits including 25 days holiday, pension scheme and life assurance, Discount & Childcare vouchers
WORKING HOURS: Full Time - 38 hours per week Monday to Friday with rostered Saturday's and bank holidays

Our client are a well respected prisoner transportation company who provide the safe and secure transportation and custody suite services for prisoners and young people in custody across England and Wales where now open for applications is the hugely exciting brand new role, Court Custody Manager / Prisoner Custody Officer based in Oxford, Oxfordshire at the Oxford Crown and Magistrates Courts.

THE ROLE: The main responsibilities for Court Custody Officers role is to manage a team of Prisoner Custody and Court Custody Officers to provide a safe environment within the custodial areas of the court for prisoners, ensure their welfare in compliance with all contractual requirements and also ensure all company policies and procedures are implemented to achieve business objectives.

Key Responsibilities for the Court Custody Manager / Prisoner Custody Officer role include :-

Ensure the Custodial Areas are safe, secure and in adherence with company and court policy
Lead, manage and coach team members within the Court
Daily allocation of staff to meet the operational task, and ensuring full optimisation of resources including maintaining Kronos
Ensure that trackers and records are correctly completed using the technology provided
Daily briefings are completed before commencement of each shift
Ensure Standard Operating Procedures are managed, updated and communicated where necessary
Health and Safety Inspections and Risk Assessment of areas within their control
Process data and generate management reports as directed by ABM
Respond to incidents and emergencies within their area
Ensure all staff are up to date with mandatory contractual training requirements and work with the training team to coordinate training courses and refreshers
Liaise with all external stakeholders as required, ensuring that contractual issues are resolved and mutual understanding and co-operation is achieved

THE CANDIDATE: The successful candidate for the Court Custody Manager / Prisoner Custody Officer role should be a calm and patient person who has excellent persuading/communication skills and can effectively build good working relations with people on all levels and posses all the traits that a Prisoner Custody Officer / Court Custody Officer would need. In addition to being someone who has a positive and practical attitude, is non judgemental and can provide a high level of care to people you should be someone who is a natural leader and motivator, and be someone that is motivated and has a desire to develop into a managerial role. You should be a good manager of people and must be organised and able to meet deadlines, work well under pressure and must have a valid UK driving licence.

Due to the nature of this role you should be someone who is physically fit, must be comfortable in confined spaces with prisoners, able to commit to a flexible working pattern and be happy to undergo a vetting process and DBS checks a well as extensive training in a classroom setting.

Key Experience/ Characteristics preferred for the Court Custody Manager / Prisoner Custody Officer role in Oxford, Oxfordshire :-

Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
Strong persuading and influencing skills and a positive and practical attitude
Should be a calm, caring and patient individual
The ability to work well under pressure and to tight time deadlines and someone who can lead a team
Must have valid UK Driving Licence
Must be able to commute to Oxford Crown and Magistrates Courts
Must be Physically fit and able to use force and restrain when required
Flexibility with the hours you can work is essential
A positive and practical attitude is essential
Must be willing to undergo a DBS check and company vetting process
