Permitting Support Officer

Job Purpose:
To support the permitting service with the delivery of simple permit determinations and administrative duties associated with the permitting process and other supporting activities.
Responsibilities:
- Setting direction
Undertake simple permit determinations, taking ownership of permit applications allocated to you and determine them in line with following agreed processes.
- Delivering results
Deliver permitting administration activities as directed by the Permitting Team Leaders and Permitting Centre Manager.
Support the delivery of records management within the permitting service.
Undertake general administrative activities across the permitting service.
Assist with data entry and interpretation from relevant IT systems.
- Building relationships
Develop and maintain effective customer relationships to ensure the permitting services reputation is maintained and enhanced with both internal and external customers.
- Ensuring effective governance
Make sure all permit determinations are delivered within statutory timescales or Service Level Agreements. Update relevant permitting systems with correct permit information to ensure all compliance and billing systems contain accurate data.
- Developing people and teams
Work closely with other Permit Support Officers in the team, sharing tasks to ensure they are delivered on time and to the required standard. Where necessary support and mentor team members or colleagues in other teams.

- An understanding of the Environmental Permitting Regulations and how they relate to the permitting process (desirable)
