MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge UK

The MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology is seeking an Apprentice to become key members of our Estates and Facilities team. To assist, under guidance, in the mechanical and electrical duties (building management systems, natural and laboratory gas systems, reverse osmosis deionised water systems, steam boilers, ground source heat pumps (GSHP) complex automated lighting systems, heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), humidification and dehumidification plant etc that ensure the Cambridge Regions services, facilities and plant are maintained to meet the scientific requirements.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a world-class Laboratory, comprising of research staff, students and visiting scientists as well as technical support.

You will learn a wide variety of skills through coaching and mentoring by our highly skilled team of engineers who you will work alongside and through day release to Cambridge Regional College. The Apprenticeship program will provide an opportunity to gain industry recognised qualifications.

You will be highly motivated with the ability to develop a high level of technical experience, knowledge and skills. It is essential that you demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team and have the ability to use initiative. You will have a minimum of 5 GCSE’s grade 4-9 or equivalent, including Maths, English and Science or a technical-based subject. You will need to be computer literate and should ideally have some engineering experience.
