The Client

Onward Homes is one of the largest registered provider of social housing, based solely in the North West of England.

In April 2017, we brought the Group together under the Onward brand to signal our intention to increase our impact and to make a greater contribution to the communities and customers we serve.  We are delivering a major transformation change programme, in the way in which we deliver services and how we are structured as a business.

The Role

As part of a continued focus on developing and shaping our property services and supporting our wider neighbourhood strategy, we are looking for a Building Surveyor to join our Property Team.

You will assess and deliver bespoke projects providing technical advice, support and property evaluation on the condition and delivery / investment requirements of the property portfolio within the region.

You will effectively contribute towards stock sustainability, option appraisal of stock and delivery options, including any associated regeneration initiatives. The post holder will be required to take account of long term maintenance needs; develop and project manage bespoke investment projects through appraisal, in conjunction with other directorates across the business. You will then provide commercial solutions to address poor performing assets, as well as undertaking high quality dilapidation / diagnostic building surveys across the region, providing detailed project appraisals in regards to technical advice and support on property condition and investment requirements. The post holder will undertake accurate Energy Performance Assessments as required and support the development of a detailed 3-5 year investment programme assessing compatibility with the neighbourhood plan.

To be successful, it is essential you have a building related degree and significant experience of building construction, standards, planning regulations, regulatory standards and leasehold legislation. You will have a commercial understanding and experience of performing the role of ‘principal designer’ and knowledge requirements of CDM, as well as excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels and manage both internal and external stakeholder relationships.
