Product Owner
The Role
At SSG Insight we are looking for a Product Owner to join our forward-thinking and innovative Product Team. The Product Owner will own existing and new web and mobile applications and drive the process of gathering and managing requirements for these products. Your main responsibility will be to turn the initial product management input into a well-managed pipeline of properly fleshed out user stories, and to do so in a way that ensures that both technical and business perspectives are heard, evaluated and appreciated.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Owner for existing and new products
- Carry out the full BA lifecycle, i.e. needs analysis and scope definition, planning and monitoring, requirements elicitation, supporting the quality assurance efforts
- Challenge and flesh out the business case
- Build a relationship with the development team and stakeholders and use it to create a shared understanding of problems being solved
- Drive the process of discovering available alternative solutions and selecting the right solution based on business and technical constraints and opportunities
- Translate initial product management input into fleshed out user stories in co-operation with clients, developers, QA, sales team, UX, designers and other internal or external stakeholders
- Provide insights necessary for effective prioritization of the backlog and frontloading value
- Support the development team with a business driven perspective on the scope (why are we doing this) and facilitate the process of discovering solutions to technical problems (how can we do this)
- Support the QA process by assisting in creating acceptance criteria, facilitating the UAT process etc.
- Create and maintain a product knowledge base to be used as a single source of truth for all technical and business teams
The Person
You will be someone who enjoys all the activities associated with a Product Owner or Business Analyst role. This will include the gathering, writing and traceability of requirements, understanding of business processes, needs and implementation support; including all agile ceremonies and the product lifecycle.
You'll have the confidence to use a number of proven elicitation techniques and analysis methodologies to challenge appropriately and seek solutions to business problems and to own the full agile product lifecycle.
You will have great stakeholder management skills and will love to work collaboratively with other areas of the business across the product lifecycle. You'll have experience working with ambiguity in a fast paced, often challenging environment.
You'll plan and manage your own work to develop high quality deliverables.
As a minimum requirement you'll have:
- 3 years' prior experience working as a Business Analyst and/or Product Owner
- Demonstrable experience in Agile techniques, specifically Scrum
- Ability and willingness to learn a new domain quickly
- Excellent communication and influencing skills
- Knowledge of analysis tools, methodology and best practice and will be able to apply structured analysis on assigned projects
- Comfortable talking to people across management levels and skill sets
- Attention to detail and the ability to identify edge case scenarios
- Previous experience in similar role working on complex, corporate systems
- Knowledge of Business Intelligence products and related user needs would be advantageous
