JOB TITLE: Learning Support Teacher

SALARY: The school has its own salary scale which exceeds national scales. The salary will be based on experience and qualifications

WORKING HOURS: Full time hours - permanent - Fixed term contract with the possibility of becoming permanent

THE COMPANY: We are currently working with a friendly, family orientated preparatory school with strong boarding, positioned in the beautiful Buckinghamshire countryside. They are now looking for a Learning Support Teacher to join the team in Swanbourne, Milton Keynes.

THE ROLE: As a Learning Support Assistant you will be responsible for the overseeing of the academic and pastoral development of the children under your care, assisting with the teaching of core and additional subjects within the timetabling arrangements.

Key Responsibilities for the Learning Support Teacher role to include:-

• To teach pupils on a one to one basis or in small groups in line with their Individual Education Plans
• To support children in regard to learning difficulties as they apply to literacy, numeracy, written expressive language, comprehension and essay writing skills, study skills, personal organisation and subject-specific work
• To provide in-class support for pupils with identified needs
• To support pupils in regard to exam preparation (both school exams and external exams)
• To assist in the identification of pupils' Special Educational Needs through observation in the classroom, individual screening and assessment of reports
• To liaise with external agencies in regard to particular pupils to ensure that the school is providing appropriate support for the child
• To write school reports for parents on the pupils receiving one-to-one teaching in line with the school's annual reporting cycle

THE CANDIDATE: The successful applicant will need to have good interpersonal, written and oral communication skills with the ability to deal confidently with staff, pupils and parents. You will be able to relate well to children and deal with issues that might arise with both children and adults. Have an SEND qualification is advantageous but not essential.

Key experience essential for the role of the Learning Support Teacher:-

• Qualified Teacher Status
• Knowledge of Safeguarding and Child Protection
• Experience of supporting pupils of all abilities to make excellent progress
• Strong ICT Skills
• Live within a commutable distance to Swanbourne, Milton Keynes
