Lincolnshire YMCA is a well-established Christian based Charity, Housing Association and Limited Company. Our passion and desire is to help and support some of the most disadvantaged, difficult to reach, and people with complex needs within our City. We have been serving the vulnerable for over 47 years on our St Rumbold's Street site and now more than ever we need individuals that can align themselves with OUR Mission, Goals and Values and help to take people from street homeless to independent living. What we do is more than a job or pay packet! We need individuals with GREAT people skills and the experience in working in a housing/hostel environment with the know how in dealing with vulnerable adults. Location: St Rumbold Street, Lincoln
Job Purpose
To implement all Housing policies and procedures as directed by the Housing Project Manager.
To be in agreement with Lincolnshire YMCA's Aims and Purposes and its Mission Statement.
Duties and Responsibilities
To assist the Housing Project Manager in the smooth running of the Housing Project upholding the Aims and Purposes of Lincolnshire YMCA at all times.
To work as part of a team to provide support and supervision for our Clients to enable them to develop a more independent style of living.
To liaise internally and with other agencies as necessary to facilitate each individual's progress.
To implement Lincolnshire YMCA's policies and good practice in line with the HCA's regulatory requirements.
To take referrals for the Association in accordance with the Association's Lettings Policies ensuring that all Clients are made to feel valued in a safe and secure environment.
To ensure that a prompt room inventory check is done at the beginning, during and at the end of licence agreement.
To assist as necessary with the collection of rents.
Offering advice to residents when needed and ensuring that all correspondence relating to the DWP and Housing Benefit are kept up to date.
Liaising with Probation service and other statutory services in an appropriate manner on behalf of Clients where necessary.
To record messages and deal with in an appropriate manner ensuring that anything of any significance is logged in the message book and /or the contact sheets as appropriate.
To issue equipment and keys to residents/service staff as and when needed.
To ensure vacated rooms are cleared in preparation for cleaning.
To ensure that all maintenance tasks are dealt with in accordance with the Association's policy.
To carry out other duties within the scope of the post as directed by the Housing Project Manager.
Scope and Limits of Authority
The Association has 132 units of (IHM) Intensively Housing Management properties. The post holder, under the direction of the Housing Project Manager, will be responsible for overseeing activities (Safety and security) in the hostel. This process will involve the application procedure, Client's induction and support whilst they are resident at Lincolnshire YMCA.
Knowledge
Knowledge of statutory agencies and benefit provision, with particular reference to DWP, Housing Benefit, Probation Service, Addaction.
An understanding of appropriate support models to meet client needs.
Experience
Experience of working in a Supported/Intensive Housing Management Housing environment (for at least one year and during that time been involved in the provision of) providing Client support to vulnerable adults and dealing with challenging behaviour.
Skills and Abilities
It is essential that the post holder has excellent inter-personal and communication skills.
To be computer literate.
To be sympathetic to the Christian Aims and Purposes of the YMCA.
