Additive Manufacturing Research & Development Engineer

Make your mark on an innovative function within a large jewellery manufacturing business who is taking its precious metal expertise and applying it to industrial applications. 

Our client is a leading global supplier of precious metals in gold, silver, platinum and palladium alloys. They are the UK's largest one-stop shop for the jewellery maker and have formed unique partnerships in order to provide a complete additive manufacturing solution to the precious metals industry including jewellery, watch, industrial clients, partners and appropriate academic institutions. They require an AM Research and Development Engineer to join their team of four to develop their Industrial AM Business to its full potential. 

In return, our client will provide you with on the job training, guidance and the support you need to build on your existing expertise. 

Your duties will include: 

- Working with clients, system manufacturers and the commercial teams to satisfy the AM business strategy 
- Supporting the growth of the Industrial Applications Business Unit by assisting the AM Business Development Manager 
- Assisting in the development of material parameter sets in a variety of metal AM systems in precious metal alloys and less non-precious metal alloys, using a variety of software such as Materialise Magics, EOSPRINT and AM system parameter editors 
- Establishing, developing and implementing a formal trial programme for process variables and review and evaluate the results of the build 
- Supporting development and production of gas atomised powders for AM and other industrial applications 
- Providing support for the AM bureau service and advanced precious metal powder preparation and control 
- Providing technical advice to customers and other project stakeholders 
- Attending exhibitions and trade shows overseas 

The successful candidate will have: 

- A Degree level qualification in an Engineering or Science-related field
- Good knowledge of additive manufacturing and/or powder metallurgy 
- Strong attention to detail 
- An enthusiastic can do attitude 
- The ability to prioritise and schedule work to meet demands set by the department, company or external customer 
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
- Effective team working skills 
- Ability to use initiative for independent work 

Hours of work: 
Total 37.5 hours per week. Flexible working pattern to suit the business needs. 


- Salary up to £23,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
