Your role as Transport Compliance Officer is vital to the effective management of the company’s own account vehicles and 40 drivers, ensuring that infringements are communicated effectively and dealt with efficiently. It is imperative that the Transport/Fleet Officer has excellent PC skills, in particular Excel, as well as being a strong, confident communicator able to deal with drivers in a professional, understanding manner. Key responsibilities – Transport/Fleet Compliance Officer:

 

  • Legal and operational efficiency, safety and compliance of the commercial vehicle fleet and drivers
  • Ensure vehicles are maintained in line with transport regulations
  • Assist and instruct contracts/operations on vehicle, driver and O Licence issues
  • Reviewing driver card downloads to ensure full coverage for the agreed frequency
  • Keeping a running total of

     

    • Driving hours
    • Working time hours
    • Advise management of available hours / drivers running out of hours

     

  • Interpret reports from the client’s digital tachograph card management system / generating infringement reports
  • Store records to ensure compliance with legal retention records
  • Assess driver’s performance, advise individuals on improvements
  • Administer infringements and deliver reports
  • Undertake any necessary investigations under company guidance
  • Actively liaise with the transport planning teams ensuring objectives are in place to ensure legal compliance

 

Personal Specification – Transport/Fleet Compliance Officer:

 

  • CPC in Road Haulage is desirable, but not essential

 

 

  • Experience in managing commercial vehicle operations and operator licence (‘O’ licence) compliance, multi-site-based vehicle fleet operation
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Good product knowledge (LGV)
  • Presentation skills
  • Good PC skills (Word & Excel)
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Other duties may include:

     

    • Assisting drivers with issues relating to equipment failures
    • Providing support to customers both in person and over the telephone
    • Creating and issuing transport reports
    • Verification of weekly driver’s timesheets
    • Taking part in asset verification and stock takes
