Position: Side by Side Coordinator
Location: Wakefield, Yorkshire
Contract type: Full time, Permanent
Hours: 35 per week
Salary: GBP22,132 actual per annum

About the role:

Are you an enthusiastic, passionate, experienced professional who would like to be part of developing and shaping an exciting service for the Alzheimer's Society? We are looking for a highly motivated and organised individual to manage our established Side by Side service in Wakefield.

This role is to manage the Side by Side service across Wakefield and Five Towns. Side by Side services provide personalized companionship for people with dementia, either in their own home or using community assets. Side by Side is provided by volunteers who are supported and managed by staff. Our Side by Side service currently supports people affected by dementia through both telephone support and face-to-face activities.

The Wakefield Side by Side Coordinator will be responsible for managing the service across all Wakefield district The successful candidate will be part of the Wakefield team and must be able to travel independently across the area.

A large part of your role involves managing a team of volunteers; this includes recruitment, development and support for the volunteers of this service. You will need to be able to support them in their demanding roles, whilst ensuring we offer the highest standards of service. We are looking for someone who has experience in managing and motivating volunteers.

About you:

You will be responsible for the promotion of the service to external partners and stakeholders with a commitment to enabling people affected by dementia to access the service. It is desirable that you have experience of working with statutory and voluntary agencies.

This influential role calls for a good understanding of dementia. You will recruit and support a team of volunteers who will provide a one-to-one service in the community. You must also be an excellent communicator who can lead, develop and inspire others. Excellent organisational skills are essential. It is desirable that the successful candidate will be able to accommodate flexible hours when necessary which could include evenings and weekends.

You will possess NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) or demonstrable experience.
