Herdsperson in Dorchester Ref 2215

The Farm:

We are seeking a keen herdsperson to join the team to manage this 300 cow herd. The herd is split into two block calving patterns, half being late spring and the other half autumn.

The Role:

Herdsperson role would include a mix of milking duties, in order to know cow performance, heat detection which is key, keep high hygiene standards, monitor and maintenance. The suitable candidate would ideally be AI training, and complete this on relief basis working with the owner. Foot trimming would also be an advantage, in order to pick up lame cows in between the routine foot trimmer.

Good facilities, including modern 24:24 rapid exit herringbone parlour.

The Applicant:

The successful applicant would be a:

- competent milker

- yard work experience

- AI and Foot trimming trained preferably

- heat detection

Accommodation:

3 bedroom bungalow available

Additional Info:

This is a contract position, where the successful person will operate as an agency worker with Farm Solutions. This means that the person will not have sub-contractor responsibilities and all statutory tax deductions and payments will be made by Farm Solutions on their behalf. Hourly pay operates, which includes pay for overtime hours worked.
