Salary S5 scale: £24,825 to £28,409 per annum including London Allowance
The College of Engineering’ Design and Physical Sciences is looking to recruit an enthusiastic Technical Assistant for the wood and model making workshops within the Department of Design.
Working as part of a team of highly skilled technicians, your role will involve providing technical support to staff and students in the design, development and construction of prototypes and models relating to projects and also assisting in delivering workshop training to undergraduate students.
You will also be responsible for the running of our busy materials store. This will involve ordering and stock control, and the preparation and machining of timber, sheet and model board to support projects.
We would like to hear from people who have a modelmaking or wood working related background. Experience in the use of woodworking machinery is essential.
You will have a related technical qualification such as BTEC, City and Guilds, NVQ3 or equivalent. Good technical knowledge and strong interpersonal skills are also essential.
