We are currently seeking to fill the following role:

Recovery Worker

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, Recovery Workers deliver an integrated service through the provision of assessment, recovery planning and appropriate referral and psychosocial interventions. This includes liaising effectively with partnership agencies in order to ensure continuity of care, key working and access to appropriate services.

As a Recovery Worker, you will be responsible for working with and motivating adult male prisoners to engage in recovery.  This will involve you delivering a range of interventions, including: key-working, strengths based assessment, recovery planning, structured group and 1:1 work and drug testing.  

Ideally, you will already have previous experience of working in a similar field, either in the community or a similar environment, including undertaking assessments and delivering a range of evidence based substance misuse psychosocial interventions in 1:1 and group-work settings.  You will have a good understanding of group working, group dynamics, and be able to demonstrate competent group work facilitation skills. You will be comfortable dealing with the emotional content of sessions and constructively challenging the behaviours you see.  Some knowledge and understanding of mental health issues would be helpful.

In addition, you will be able to demonstrate excellent communication, organisation and time management skills and be confident in managing your own priorities in order to carry a diverse workload with competing demands. You will have at least five GCSE’s (or equivalent) and either hold or be willing to undertake a Vocational Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care. A further qualification in a relevant area such as Nursing, Health and Social Care, Community Development, Psychology, whilst not essential, would be an advantage.

Just as importantly, you will have a genuine interest in the understanding of substance misuse problems and a positive recovery focused attitude. You will be keen to develop professionally through our training programme and will demonstrate a high level of integrity and enthusiasm fort working within the structured environment of a prison.
