MAIN PURPOSE OF POSITION:
To be responsible for analytical data generation and purchasing support from a number of
Logistic Services Providers (LSP) supplying freight, customs and logistic service centres for
the business and its manufacturing plants.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Launch and manage new RFQs when required and present results and recommends to
Central Logistics and the Manufacturing Plants.
Support each business group to generate logistic cost models for future business
Support the implementation of new freight, customs and logistics service centre
providers.
Develop and maintain a database of freight tariffs and support Central Purchasing to
identify the most cost effective solutions during material supplier selection.
Establish a method to standardise, approve, monitor and report monthly supplier costs
against tariffs, sales and vehicle production.
Investigate opportunities to standardise, collect, analyse and publish detailed LSP
performance data and identify areas of opportunity.
Set up a continuous improvement and audit programme to ensure compliance of each
LSP with the business and industry recognised quality management systems.
Support the investigation of complaints raised against LSPs and report root causes
and countermeasures to Central Logistics.
Develop relationships with senior members of each LSPs management to ensure an
effective escalation process is available.
Support Central Purchasing with improving packaging and collection optimisation
across the business supplier network.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
Willingness to Travel internationally
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Excellent experience working in a purchasing / logistics role
Good analytical and data processing skills
Good organisational skills
Good communication/ negotiation and problem solving skills
ability to work alone and as a team within a pressurised environment
Computer literate in MS tools including Word, Excel and Outlook
