Two Rivers Housing is an independent not-for-profit organisation based in the beautiful Forest of Dean, with a £22 million turnover. In 2003 we took on the properties previously owned and managed by the district council, and now we own nearly 4,000 homes across Gloucestershire and Herefordshire.

We are seeking a confident and experienced Accountant to take on our new position in the Finance team at our offices in Newent.

As our capital accounting focused Management Accountant you will proactively manage and develop our capital and sales accounting cycle. You will also support the Finance team by providing cover for our senior team members and assisting in the line management of the team.

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Resources you will be responsible for the accounting for property sales, shared ownership and staircasing. Further to this you will work with the Development program to ensure costs and income are recorded along with overseeing purchase ledger duties.

Other duties will include payroll, assisting in the preparation of management accounts, regulatory returns, budgets, statutory accounts, taxation (corporate, VAT and PAYE).

You must have substantial knowledge of accountancy and strong people management skills to fulfil the roles and responsibilities the role. Flexible in your approach, you will be proficient in Microsoft Office, and appropriate financial management software and will be able to adapt to relevant software, such as a housing management system. Experience of working in or around the housing sector is essential along with knowledge of capital, development, component or project accounting would be highly beneficial.

A CCAB qualification or equivalent experience and knowledge is essential. You are also required to undertake any other duties within your capabilities as well as evening and weekend working when required.
