*Hours are negotiable depending on the precise role agreed but we need someone who will be on site at least three days per week.  If your preferred pattern of work would be fewer hours on more days this would also be possible.  There will be occasional evening working, for example at parents’ evenings.

Following the promotion of the previous post holder, we are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, well-motivated colleague to oversee the programme of independent careers advice offered to students.  Working with year teams and under the supervision of an assistant head, you will be responsible for providing independent advice and support to individuals and to groups of students (for example through input to assemblies).  Periodically, you will also be in charge of organising events such as careers fairs and mock interview days.  Our work experience programme in year 10 is currently targeted at about 10% of the students who we feel will benefit most from a first-hand experience of the workplace at age 15.

While previous experience in the field of careers advice and education is desirable, we are primarily interested in finding the person with the right skill set and personality for the role.  Full training would be provided if necessary.  If you do have existing experience and would feel able to take on a leadership role, we would consider an appointment as careers leader – the salary for this would be by negotiation depending on your skill level and prior experience.

The successful candidates will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring check.

Redborne is a successful school on a spacious and pleasant campus near the market town of Ampthill in Bedfordshire. We achieve excellent examination results with about three-quarters of students typically gaining Maths and English at grades 9 – 4. ‘A’ Level results are also very good with over half at ‘A*’, ‘A’ or ‘B’ grades and an overall pass rate of 99.9%. About 80% of the Sixth Form go on to university and each year a number of students get into Oxbridge. The school is well regarded, oversubscribed and situated in a very pleasant area of Central Bedfordshire, within easy reach of London. The campus includes a state-of-the-art 400 seat theatre and we have just opened a new classroom block and Sixth Form social area.
