Job Title: Project Manager, Web App Projects (Software, IT)

Location: Birmingham

Salary: £26,000 - £31,000

Position: Permanent Full-Time

Project manager for cutting-edge web app and mobile app projects: The company is an established web and mobile application development agency based in Birmingham's iconic Jewellery Quarter. The company takes on a wide variety of interesting mid-sized digital projects (Typically £10k - £40k), solving business challenges by creating bespoke internal apps, and helping companies to launch new tech products.

Job Role:

The company is looking for a project manager to join their team. You'll be working on projects ranging from innovative start-ups looking to launch market-changing new products, through to established businesses seeking to grow, or make process improvements, by implementing new, digital app-strategies.

You will engage in problem-solving planning meetings with the end customer, write specifications, schedule work for completion by the development team, own the development schedule, ensure project requirements are met, perform quality checks, and ensure customers are happy with their product launch.

The company uses a combination of Agile and Waterfall practices, choosing which is most appropriate based on the size and nature of the project, and uses JIRA to manage the product roadmap and issue work requests on the development team. The successful candidate will have a high attention-to detail with experience managing similar projects or be able to demonstrate transferable skills with examples.

To be considered you will need:

  • Project management experience: Familiar with both Waterfall and Agile project management practices.
  • Software experience: Experience using project management software (such as JIRA, Asana, BaseCamp, Trello).
  • Documentation writing abilities: Comfortable in writing and owning project documentations, such as specifications, change documents and project plans.
  • Basic wireframing skills: Able to create simple wireframe sketches (we know you aren't a graphic designer, but we expect you to be able to communicate your ideas to the design team in this way).
  • Priority management skills: Comfortable managing multiple projects and priorities.

Formal project and process management qualifications are desirable but aren't required. The company recognises everyone's individual experience may differ and will be evaluating you by looking at your experience and other evidence that demonstrates you can execute the requirements of the role.

This position is advertised as a Project Manager role rather than an Account Manager role as there are no sales/marketing requirements of the role, you will have accountability over our internal schedules, and can influence process change. There are customer facing aspects of the role, including user acceptance testing, issue resolution and general communication. The company recognises that account management experience may demonstrate transferrable skills useful for this role.

So, if you have experience coordinating customer requests, managing projects, writing specifications, communicating plans, and are confident you can coordinate app projects using Waterfall and AGILE practices and software, then please apply.
