Job Purpose

The post holder will lead the delivery of youth engagement, youth and child care and youth activities for YMCA Lincolnshire.

The Children, Youth and Family Services Manager will oversee the development of innovative, responsive, high-quality services and partnerships that directly meet the needs and interests of young people in Lincolnshire. The post holder will be responsible for planning, managing, and evaluating existing and new services, partnerships, and management of the direct service delivery to infants, children, teens, and school pupils (0 - 18 years).

Developing tactical delivery plans to ensure community and strategic needs are delivered, the post holder will take day to day responsibility for the management and motivation of staff and volunteers, and grow business impact and sustainability for youth and child services.

Duties and Responsibilities

YMCA Lincolnshire aims to provide young people with the best possible opportunities and the resilience and self-esteem to succeed in life. Our programmes, not exclusively, focus on the following;

* Improving school attendance and engaging in learning

* Growing personal communication skills and an ability to socialise with others (community cohesion)

* Eating healthily and taking part in physical activity

* Raising awareness of misuse of drugs and alcohol

* Support in dealing with emotional and mental health issues

* Supporting effective and positive family relationships

* Facilitating a better start in life for all, opening opportunities and broadening perspective and experiences.

The post holder will develop tactical delivery plans and structures to ensure services are offered to young people that help to this.

Operational and Strategic Management in relation to;

Nurseries/Childcare Settings

* Responsibility for the overseeing of the management of YMCA Early years and pre-school care setting managers, ensuring adherence to the Policies & Procedures, compliance with the Children Act and Health and Safety legislation, all within the requirements and guidelines laid down by Ofsted/CSIW and the National Standards.

* Ensuing each setting is financially viable and contributing financially and socially towards the YMCA overall strategy.

* Identify and develop viable plans for growth and expansion of childcare services related across Lincolnshire, working with the Director of Operations and CEO, and directly delivering Lincolnshire County Council need for childcare wherever possible.

Youth Service Development & Growth

* Overseeing the direct delivery of all youth focussed activities and programmes, including funded programmes or those through partnerships

* Develop plans for growth in the scale and range of activities available to young people across Lincolnshire - either through expansion of fixed sites or through community outreach projects.

* Develop and manage consistent and accurate measurement systems for all youth work to measure outcomes and impact on the young people we engage with.

Parenting and Family Support

* Develop and sustain range of wider family support services to ensure the home life of our young people is conducive to personal development and growth.

* Seek partners and funders to assist with sustainability of Family Support Services and ensure funded programmes achieve stated outcomes/outputs.

* Develop a range of community engagement outreach opportunities (via youth activities), to engage and attract a wider audience and raise the awareness of the YMCA and its services.

Income & Sustainability

* Working with the Director of Operations and corporate services team compete for public sector commissioned youth related work which is in keeping with the mission of the YMCA.

* Assist in the development and implementation of new youth related services

* To work with Department Heads to assist them in relationship management with key partners which will help to maintain or increase income streams.

Safeguarding & Risk Management

* To take a lead on all matters relating to safeguarding of young people and children for YMCA Lincolnshire, working with the corresponding lead for adult safeguarding to ensure consistency of approach.

* To take a lead in the management of Health & Safety across all youth and child service functions and champion H&S risk management with staff, volunteers and customers.

Data, Reporting and Analysis

* To hold overall GDPR and confidentiality responsibility for youth and childcare settings, and ensuring full compliance across all youth/childcare settings/delivery sites.

* To develop and maintain systems for tracking outcomes and outputs related to children and youth service programmes, including the use of Outcome Star tracking system.

People Management

* To be responsible for the overall management, development and assessment of the Childcare, Youth and Family services teams.

* To work with the HR Manager to ensure that job descriptions, goals and objectives are set and performance appraisals are conducted for each member of the team.

* To be a visible and consistent leader, leading by example, setting clear professional boundaries and values for our people.

Teamwork & Inclusivity

To build and maintain strong relationships with the wider team seeking consensus on plans to meet operational service delivery before bids are submitted.

To assist when necessary with customer complaints, comments and enquiries relating to projects you are managing.

Ensuring all children and young people have equal opportunities with regard to their religious persuasion, racial origins, gender, disabilities, cultural or linguistic background; in particular, challenging situations where racism or discrimination is displayed.
