The role of Commercial Strategy Category Manager sits within the Strategy and Market Intelligence team; which in turn sits under the Product Management, Services & Commercial Strategy team.

The mission of the Strategy & Business Intelligence function is to identify and translate market opportunities into actionable recommendations to achieve individual, team and company revenue profit target

The 5 main goals of the team are as follow:

Strategy Consultation:

* to work with product, sales & marketing teams to formulate tactical directions and/ or long term strategy to ensure the sustainability of revenue growthPlanning:

* to providing guidance, both as a pitch and direction, in regards to the revenue target for product categories & accounts

Earnings Growth:

* to grow our channel partners and in turn grow as commercial is the core of all output; the mind set must be about how to grow the pie not focus on a "zero-sum-game"

Clarity on Market Dynamics:

* to know the market well and see the signal from the noise within data

Research:

* to study the macro trends and project their implications to Samsung

The key projects from the team include, but not limit to:

Weekly revenue cadence:

Proposals on reaction plan as market dynamics changes

Quarterly & Yearly Revenue guidance/outlook:

Suggestions, by working closely with product, sales & marketing teams, on channel strategy

Business outlook:

Highlight key growth areas and identify risks

What will this role achieve?

The aim of the Commercial Strategy Category Manager is to identify and translate market opportunities into actionalbe business recommendations.

Ultimately, the role aims to answer to the business goals in terms of Revenue, Profit, Customer Base Growth and Market Share.

This is achieved by supporting the short and long term strategic planning, working closely with key stakeholders to ensure opportunities and risks are identified.

Plans put forward should be aligned & prioritized based on the full knowledge of anticipated changes in the external landscape. As a strategic advisor to the organization, you will propose and where agreed lead strategies to better understand competitors and/or customers

What will be your key deliverables?

Core deliverables in terms of daily working routine:

1. Report to business on market dynamics, competitors' and companys market share

2. Align market data with internal sales data to clearly pin-point there share is gained/lost

3. Articulate contributing factors on share gains/loss and consult/advise sales best course of action

4. Work closely with the product, sales operations and supply chain teams to provide a concise view on revenue management for next 3 months

5. Participate on discussions with directors level to guide business on key actions for revenue growth

Core deliverables that are on-going and/ or project based:

1. Predictions on competitors behaviour

2. Understanding consumers trend

3. Proposals, working closely with product teams, on positioning and/ or consumer targeting

4. Guidance, working closely with head of sales, on channel strategies

What do we need for this role?

* Ability to work with a lot of data and not afraid to get hands-on with analysis

* Working knowledge of SQL is highly desired

* Able to present complicated materials concisely and articulate in a compelling manner

* Keen awareness of current and emerging trends within technology and/ or telecomms sector

* Strategic thinker

* Details oriented

* Strong numeracy / commercial acumen

* Experience of quantitative and qualitative research techniques

* Educated to degree level or equivalent

What does success look like?

How success looks like in this role:

* Confident:

o Go-to person for market intelligence and revenue guidance on the Phone/Tablet/Wearable Category

* Detailed in understanding:

o Ability to conduct analytics on all data source and identify correlation leading to business recommendation

* Clear in communication:

o Ariculate clearly the interpretation of research, sales data, and market dynamics to make business recommendations

* A Team Player:

o provide market, competitor, and category insights for many differnt stakeholders. Working to tailor the analysis to them by delivering regular insights to inform and help support/shape planning and thinking processes

* Commercially driven:

o Always see the commercial value and pitching angle from a wide array of consumer insights, qualitative market research and/ or sales & financial data

This role could also be based on a daily rate of GBP225 PAYE or LTD company rate of GBP297 per day
