Consultant Physicist

A new opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Physicist. We are seeking somebody degree qualified with a 2:1 or 1st from a reputable university to join our client, based on the Cambridgeshire/Hertfordshire border. We would expect the successful candidate to have in-depth specialisms coupled with a more general capability to model physical systems and to be able to demonstrate an ability to analyse and to solve real world system level problems / challenges. Essential skills:* Applicants must be able to hold a UK security clearance.* Broad interest in physics and applied science.* Curiosity, imagination and creativity.* Solid understanding of physical principles.* Strong experimental problem-solving skills.* Effective communication and team-working skills.Desirable skills:* Algorithm development.* Mathematical modelling (e.g. using tools such as Comsol or Matlab).* Post-graduate research achievements in experimental physics.* Experience in technology/product development for commercial applications.* Coding experience (e.g. C/C++, Java, Python)* Post-graduate research achievements in experimental physics and/or* Experience in technology/product development for commercial applications.* Background in optical physics or material physicsIn addition to the above, an ability to work beyond the purely technical and to encompass the broader skills essential to a vibrant consulting business is highly desirable. Good oral and written communication skills are essential.
