GEP Academies is a partnership of seven schools in and around the Guildford area with a common vision of collaborating in order to improve outcomes for our children.

Two exciting apprenticeship opportunities have arisen to work centrally to support GEP Academies at George Abbot Secondary School. To join our friendly teams, you will need to be enthusiastic, committed and eager to develop your career in finance or business and administration.

Finance and Business Administration Apprentice

You will be gaining employment experience within GEP Academies finance department developing finance skills whist studying for a Level 2/3 apprenticeship programme in either Accountancy or Business Administration.

To be successful you will need:

  • A keen interest in accounting or finance
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Have good numeracy skills

Business Administration Apprentice

You will be gaining employment experience within the GEP Academies Teaching School developing business administration skills whilst studying for a Level 2/3 apprenticeship programme in Business Administration.

You will need:

  • A customer focused approach to work
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office
  • Commitment to your on-going personal development

You will be customer focused striving to deliver great service whilst supporting the Teaching School to provide a range of events to teachers. You will have the opportunity to gain skills in a wide range of administration elements.

In both positions you will receive practical on-the-job training and mentoring whist you are studying for your apprenticeship programme.

Working hours

You will work 36 hours per week, 8.30am to 4.15pm for four days and 8.30am to 4pm for one day week with a half hour lunch break.

This would be worked over 52 weeks of the year (with holiday entitlement). You will receive paid time off to attend college and/or undertake off the job training.

Flexible arrangements

Alternative options include a working pattern over 43 weeks of the year which would be worked 39 weeks of the year term time and 4 additional weeks, with no additional holiday entitlement.

We would also consider a part time working pattern, however, this could extend the duration of the apprenticeship.

Salary

The annual salary is £11,117.60 FTE for the first year rising to £12,670.65 FTE during the second year (or for apprentices aged 25+ years, £14,699 FTE).

If a working pattern across 43 weeks is agreed, the salary will be £10,449.43 pro rata for the first year rising to £11,909.14 during the second year (or for apprentices aged 25+ years, £13,815.59 FTE).

This is a fixed term appointment of between 12 and 18 months to run concurrently with your apprenticeship programme.
