NSF International has an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced Operations Manager to join the team in Oakdale, Gwent.
With over 75 years’ experience and knowledge of water supply and distribution, we test a wide range of products used in the distribution of water from well casings and water mains to washing machines and showers.
The Role
The Operations Manager will take charge of our fast-moving technical laboratory for our Water Division in Oakdale, Gwent.
The lab carries out specialised testing and certification for manufacturers of various types of equipment including bathroom fittings, washing machines and similar. With a total staff of around 60, we are looking for someone who can really drive operational improvement throughout the organisation.
Although technically a laboratory, the shop floor environment has more in common with manufacturing and for this reason we are ideally looking for someone who has managed teams within Automotive or a similar industry.
You should be passionate about driving a culture of continuous improvement and be able to identify and implement process improvements whilst ensuring day to day planning and scheduling of all works.
Reporting to the Managing Director in Oakdale, you will be responsible for the management of all laboratory staff, ensuring that testing is carried out accurately and to schedule. You will play a critical role in this highly respected and heavily audited sector.
Your Key Responsibilities will be (but not limited to):

General management of the mechanical testing lab
Implementation of best practice procedures from manufacturing to ensure efficient use of equipment and personnel
Ensuring Health and Safety requirements are met
Working with all key departments to prioritise and schedule laboratory work in line with customer expectations.
Monitoring the laboratory income in line with set program budgets.
Continuous improvement
The Person
As the Operations Manager you will have:

Must have held a similar leadership position or have progressed through a leadership role within a key industry such as Automotive, Pharmaceutical or similar industry
High standard of education, including a higher-level degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant technical discipline or considerable on the job experience
IOSH Managing Safely
Ideally an MSc, with requisite business management and financial skills required for the operation of an efficient laboratory but alternative qualifications will be considered.
Lean Six Sigma or similar
Good numeracy and literacy.
IT skills to include familiarity with MS Office, Outlook & Oracle.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
