JOB TITLE: Director Medical /Professional Affairs

DEPARTMENT: Marketing

JOB SUMMARY


Responsible for clinical study publication / presentation development including writing, placing and dissemination working with Professional Affairs colleagues (at global, regional and country level), brand marketing, sales, R&D and RAQA . Drives the development, approval and application of clinical claims and maximizes mileage from clinical claims through publications and conference presentations. Speaker program development and training for KOLs. Develop ECP education. Engage with global (and where required by regions, regional) advocacy groups.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for clinical study publication / presentation development including writing, placing and dissemination working with Professional Affairs colleagues (at global, regional and country level), brand marketing, sales, R&D and RAQA .
  • Ensuring alignment with brand plans and regional marketing needs for new claims. Help identify existing internal data and potential clinical trials to generate claims, ensure claims approved through legal / regulatory process.
  • Be responsible for getting claims approved through the Marketing, Clinical, Legal and Regulatory process.
  • Work with RAQA to ensure complaints handling and post market surveillance meets requirements (internal and external).
  • Help ensure consistent representation globally of CooperVision's product and services.
  • Help identify (working with global and regional Prof Affairs colleagues), develop and maintain key opinion leaders, influencers, and CooperVision advocates to assist in delivering key messages and education during execution of communications plans, raising the presence and share of voice of CooperVision in the professional community. Provide strong scientific and professional presence to key opinion leaders and industry influencers.
  • Provide guidance to global brand and regional marketing teams regarding ECP integration of technical and clinical aspects of product portfolio.
  • Monitor and report on industry competitive activities, clinical science, and regulatory landscape in contact lens-related indications.
  • Ensure regional and country professional services organization has an understanding of and ability to manage government affairs.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple functions.
  • Experience in working in global markets, ideally with time spent in / experience / language skills of more than one market.
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, both internally and externally.
  • Excellent organizational and coordination skills are essential.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations specific to the medical device industry.
  • Intermediate skill in the use of Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Advanced preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand highly technical material

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Normal office environment.
  • Sedentary to light physical effort necessary to perform the job.
  • Travel approximately 25% of time with time spent in in customer meeting, in major markets and at major conferences / KA meetings

EDUCATION

  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree or equivalent
  • MBA or industry experience equivalent preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 10 years of industry experience in a Professional Affairs capacity or peer influential/highly visible position in the contact lens, vision or eye care industries
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience as an optometrist. Patient interaction and clinical experience with practice management experience a plus
