This programme is all about our radiological projects. Cavendish Nuclear, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Babcock International Group, is involved in complex projects across the span of the nuclear lifecycle. Join the UK's leading nuclear services company, and your work could range from the design and build and working-life extensions of existing nuclear plants to the safe decommissioning and remediation of legacy sites. You could be providing radiological instrumentation, safety hazard analysis or specialist measurements of on-site nuclear material.

Where you can join us

Places on our Physics graduate programme for Autumn 2019 are available within Cavendish Nuclear. But no matter which team you join, we ask all our graduates to be flexible and willing to move during their programme.

What you'll be doing

You'll be based in our radiometric instrument laboratories at Sellafield in Cumbria for the four years of your programme. In that time, you'll design, test, calibrate and take care of the instrumentation that measures all types of radiation for our clients' sites around the world, which will give you all the experience you need to get your head around the technical detail and develop an understanding of how this part of our business contributes to our success.

What you'll get out of it

Everything builds towards you getting professional registration, such as with the Institute of Physics. That will help you move into a more senior role after the programme. And we'll give you full support every step of the way, along with a competitive starting salary of GBP28k - GBP30k.*

What you'll need

We're looking for a 2:1 (Hons) degree in Physics. And because the programme is accredited by the IMechE and IET, your degree will need to be accredited by one of those institutions too. You'll also need to satisfy the MOD's security requirements (and may need to complete a medical assessment).

*Depending on location, role and qualifications.
