We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Quality Manager for our fast-moving technical laboratory for our Water Division in Oakdale, Gwent.

The lab carries out specialised testing and certification for manufacturers of various types of equipment including bathroom fittings, washing machines and similar. With a staff of around 60, we are looking for someone who can really drive quality throughout the organisation. Though you should be familiar with managing quality systems, you do not need to have previous lab experience and we will look favourably on a candidate who can demonstrate a track record of quality management within an industry such as automotive or other manufacturing environment. You should be passionate about driving a culture of continuous improvement. Reporting to the Senior Manager for Quality, Compliance and Safety in Ann-Arbor, US and to the Managing Director in Oakdale, you will have one direct report and will play a critical role in a highly respected and heavily audited sector.

Key duties will include: 

    Implementing and reviewing the quality system to ensure compliance with ISO 17025, ISO 17065 and UKAS on a day to day basis; Carrying out an annual review of the quality system; Amending and distributing the Quality Manual; Devising schedules for audits and reviews of the quality system; Authoring all documentation relating to the quality system; Maintaining records of all laboratory training on equipment and procedures; Ensuring the equipment monitoring program is implemented effectively; Ensuring the equipment calibration program is implemented; Scheduling a laboratory procedure review program Implementation of corrective actions; Maintenance of register of standards; Investigation of official customer complaints; Maintaining accreditation and approvals with various accreditation bodies; Working with management and staff to identify opportunities for quality and efficiency improvements and oversee implementation accordingly.
Qualifications and Key Skills:

    Should have experience managing quality systems and accreditations within a laboratory or similar environment Bachelors’ degree, ideally a BSc but alternative qualifications will be considered Management of small teams Good numeracy and literacy Good verbal and written communication skills IT skills Used to operating within shop floor and office environments Ability to follow instructions (written & verbal) Accurate recording of data/information. Comfortable instilling a culture of continuous improvement across an organisation Common sense approach whilst being able to work safely always
