Pension Accountant / Fund Accountant
McGinnis Loy Associates is proud to be working with a well-established US-listed Business Services Group who are looking to recruit a Pensions Accountant/Financial Accountant for their growing team in Reading. Reporting to the Financial Controller and managing your own portfolio of Client Pension/Fund Accounts, duties include:
- Preparation of pension accounts ensuring they are SORP and AAF compliant for a client portfolio
- Liaising with Account Managers and Auditors to ensure timetables are agreed and deadlines met for the Trustee Report and Accounts sign off
- Completion of HMRC returns and ONS Surveys within required deadlines
- Acting as a prime point of contact for Auditor's queries on accounts in progress
- Producing interim financial accounts and analyses as required for the pension schemes
- Managing the integrity of underlying financial transactions, documentary support, posting, compilation and maintenance of portfolio scheme accounts
- Preparing investment reconciliations including managed and segregated funds and derivatives
- Assisting in the execution of treasury activities, and reviewing year-end accounts and supporting schedules as necessary
- Attending client meetings including audit planning of pension/fund accounts as required
- Keeping up to date with regulatory changes including relevant Accounting Standards, Client Money Regulations together with compliance
- Mentoring junior accountants, ensuring they are aware of applicable legislation and any impact on the business
- Complying with Corporate Policies and Procedures on reconciliations, authorisation levels etc
To be considered for the Pension Accountant / Fund Accountant position, you will preferably have 2-3 years pension, fund or investment accounting experience including treasury activities, have dealt extensively with auditors and have some knowledge of the new SORP requirements. Someone from a client services/outsourcing environment would also be considered where you have investment accounting experience or experience in reviewing Pension/Fund schemes ready for audit. As a Qualified Accountant, ACCA/ACA Finalist or someone Qualified By Experience, the ability to work in a team environment and have a positive and flexible approach to the job are critical, and you must have an eye for detail, be highly numerate and able to prioritise and meet strict corporate & legal deadlines.
