Job Type:
Full-time (whole year) Equivalent Salary Range: GBP26,470 - GBP33,136 / full-time, term-time only post (7am - 3pm, Monday to Friday).

We are looking for a hard working, dynamic and experienced Catering Manager/Chef with a passion for food and cooking to lead our team of 7 Catering Assistants to deliver healthy and high quality meals at affordable prices.

Whilst Sutton Coldfield Grammar School for Girls has a long history of excellent GCSE and A-level results, we are about so much more than academic success. This is a really supportive and happy environment in which teaching and support staff work together to provide students with a high quality, broad and balanced education.

The successful applicant will start as soon as possible following interview.

Job Purpose:

  • To deliver an effective and efficient catering facility for all school stakeholders, encompassing menu planning, budgetary control, stock management, and ensuring kitchen health and hygiene regulations are met;
  • To develop and progress the catering provision to deliver healthy and high quality meals;
  • To support the aims of the school, ensuring that the philosophy of inclusion continues to be the experience of the pupils;
  • To lead, manage, train and deploy a team of catering staff to ensure the efficient organisation of the catering provision;
  • To report to the School Business Manager, Headteacher and Governing Body (as and when requested) on the current financial position of the School Catering Provision;
  • To continually review and challenge suppliers' cost prices and quality of products

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience of stock control, menu planning and food preparation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Able to demonstrate strong and effective leadership and supervision skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused during times of pressure.
  • A good standard of numeracy and literacy.
  • Must possess a valid Level 2 Food and Hygiene qualification
  • Flexible approach in a changing environment.
  • Awareness of required hygiene standards.
  • Awareness of the need to personally work safely.
  • Customer focused approach to service provision.
  • Committed to improving the provision and the environment for all students and staff.
  • Ability to follow agreed dress code and code of practice for behaviour.
