Job Title: Design Development Engineer

Location: Leeds, West Yorkshire

Salary: £30,000 to £35,000 dependent on experience.

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent (37 hours per week - Monday to Friday)

As professionals in design, manufacture and test, the company pioneers multi-fluid trials to maximise the value of alternative hydraulic fluids. Their goal is to lead development in hydraulic solutions for demanding applications.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, focused individual to join an expanding business and be part of a dynamic team. Working within a small team the role requires a proactive approach, ideally suited to an individual experienced in mechanical development design.

The site is conveniently situated approximately 1 mile from the centre of Leeds with easy transport links to both the city centre and the motorway.

Main duties will include:

• All aspects of design & development of product, both existing and new, through to launch and through life, hydraulic related products and components
• Devise and oversee the testing of hydraulic products, new & existing
• Provide technical data and internal support to the sales team and our customers
• Liaise with all departments within the manufacturing process
• Proficient use of Company software packages
• On-time delivery of key design milestones
• Oversee development testing / evaluation of product
• Liaise with suppliers in the manufacture of our bespoke components
• Liaise with the purchasing department & assist in supply issues/ queries
• Work with the suppliers to review drawings and queries when required
• Review, monitor, update and continually improve document control
• Manage non-conformance controls, including scrap & reworks
• Liaise, support and assist the team in assembly testing including identifying and offering solutions for test fails
• Offer technical support to all departments throughout the business

Essential Requirements:

• Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering

• Proficient and fully conversant in SolidWorks, FEA & CRD (or equivalent)
• Knowledge & ability to carry out FEA and other calculations to support a design

• Friendly, approachable, flexible, highly organised and have excellent communication skills
• Open to learn new skills and adapt to the company's processes and procedures, whilst also suggesting improvements where needed.
• Proven people skills are required; ability to work with others while effectively handling internal pressures.

Desirable:

• Experience in hydraulic component design
• Experience in Jobshop, MS Project, Driveworks and Simulink
• Experience in simulation type software (Simulation X / Amesim)
