Group Manager Regulatory Services

Salary Details: GBP59,685 to GBP65,424 (Grade M)
Job Term: Permanent
Appointment Type: Full-time

About the role

The Royal Borough of Kingston and the London Borough of Sutton have come together to create an ambitious and forward-looking Shared Environment Service covering Regulatory Services and Highways & Transport functions. With a focus on delivering high-quality frontline services, this innovative partnership plays its role in creating sustainable communities, with a high-quality environment that can be enjoyed by all.

Having successfully recruited an Assistant Director to provide the strategic leadership to the shared service we are now looking to recruit a Group Manager to join the management team to head up our Shared Regulatory Services function. Set in a challenging public service environment, we are looking for a passionate, committed and enthusiastic professional to join us as we continue to develop and shape the service.

The Shared Service works across both boroughs and you will work in either office as required, either in Kingston town centre or in the Sutton offices in Carshalton.

About you

You will have excellent leadership and management skills, be highly motivated and ambitious. You will have a relevant professional qualification with a proven track record of managing regulatory and environmental health services, delivering the best outcomes for customers and communities. You will have the ability to forge strong relationships with colleagues, members, communities and key stakeholders to make things happen.

In return, we can offer an enthusiastic, dedicated and committed workforce to work alongside you to deliver our corporate priorities and a flexible and supportive working environment that fosters networking and collaboration.

Benefits we offer

Kingston Council has good access to central London and our offices are a short walk from the station based in the middle of the historic and vibrant high street next to the open spaces of the river Thames, offering a wide range of shops, restaurants and leisure facilities; all making for a desirable place to live and work.

The successful candidate will have access to a wide range of staff benefits, some of which include:

  • 29 days annual leave - In addition you will receive 8 statutory bank holidays
  • Local government pension scheme
  • Interest free season loan ticket
  • Cycle to work and Zip Car Scheme
  • Discounts on a range of local shops, restaurants, gyms and leisure centres
  • Comprehensive Learning and Development programme
  • A forward thinking and networked organisation where employee's views are valued.
  • Modern and flexible working environment allowing employees to benefit from agile working practices.

The Royal Borough of Kingston and London Borough of Sutton are key partners and have adopted an approach based on strategic collaboration. This has already resulted in a number of shared services including ICT, HR, Finance, and this Environment Service with further opportunities being explored.

For an informal discussion about the role please contact Jan Gransden (Group Manager - Regulatory Services) on or Nathan Vear (Interim Assistant Director - Shared Environment Service) on - no agencies please.
