Overall Responsibility/Purpose of Position;
- Management of the Technical Workshop including resource planning and workload allocation.
- Management of the Technical department's business operating systems (B2B and SAP).
- Investigation of issues as appropriate to provide accurate, up to date, informed, technical information to customers (external and internal).
Qualifications:
- Educated to Degree level or equivalent in Engineering or Management (desirable).
Skills
- Excellent management and communication skills
- Strong customer orientation
- Self-starter, able to investigate and work on own initiative
- Able to work effectively under pressure
- Strong I.T. literacy (Word, Excel, MS Office)
- Able to prepare management information reports as required
- Basic computer programming skills (desirable)
Experience
- Previous experience of managing a team
- Experience of business operating systems (B2B / SAP desirable)
- Understanding of basic Engineering specifications
- Experience of working with machinery (2 and 4 stroke engines (desirable))
Main Duties & Tasks
- To manage the workshop team to ensure accurate reports and comprehensive service/repairs are carried out in a timely manner.
- To manage holidays, absences and resource planning to ensure appropriate level of cover is provided in the workshop at all times.
- To investigate issues as appropriate and provide accurate, up to date technical information to customers (both external and internal).
- To ensure the Technical workshop team provide timely and concise responses, both verbally and in writing, to emails and telephone enquiries.
- To keep up to date with Technical matters and to use the information sources available
- To be the primary point of contact for support to the Technical Workshop Team.
- To carry out objectives setting / Personal Development Reviews for the workshop team.
- To keep up to date, knowledge and understanding of B2B, and where appropriate SAP, business operating systems.
- To manage the Technical aspects of B2B, and SAP systems.
- To arrange departmental B2B / SAP training as and when required.
- To keep up to date, knowledge and understanding of current Technical issues and report key issues to the Technical Services Manager and other relevant colleagues.
- To liaise with the Technical Helpline Team Leader to co-ordinate workshop training for Technical Helpline Team and other colleagues as required.
- To liaise with the workshop team to resolve warranty machine queries, to include decisions on and processing of a credit or a replacement machine.
- To provide technical support to the development of technical training materials, (e.g. Crib sheets and ebulletins).
- Undertake dealership/site visits if required relating to arising Technical issues if required.
- Manage the mentorship of colleagues (potential for workshop intern / apprentice).
- To undertake project work as appropriate and agreed with Management.
- To comply with Health and Safety Policy and Quality Policy procedures.
