The below role will be based in our Devon community service Together Drug & Alcohol is provided by a partnership of EDP Drug & Alcohol Services, Devon Doctors and Devon Partnership NHS Trust, supported by the Devon Together Alliance. Our mission is: To open doors for people affected by substance misuse so they can improve their lives and those of their families and communities.

Administrator for the Clinical Assessment Centre
Reference number: 61.18
Based: Osprey House, Exeter
Hours: 35 Hours
Salary: £16,000 to £17,000 per annum depending on experience
Contract: Fixed Term (initially 6 months) with possible extension to a permanent contract after 6 months

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our newly established clinical assessment centre as an Administrator. The clinical assessment centre has been designed to improve access for individuals wishing to gain support to make changes to their substance misuse. We understand how difficult it can be for individuals to take the first step and seek support and we recognise the need to make access into treatment quick, easy and a positive experience for people once they build up the courage to do this. Working as an Administrator within the Clinical Assessment Services (CAS) team you will support the Clinical Assessment Team to ensure clients referring into treatment receive an effective, meaningful and positive initial experience, increasing client engagement within our localised Together services across the county.

Part of your role as an administrator within this team will involve helping to improve accessibility for individuals entering treatment by providing digital support (inc phone, skype, facetime, text) for members of the public. You will be responsible for improving service user experience on entry into treatment, maximising engagement into service by providing referral, advice and support. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and in partnership with the Devon together alliance to improve access and support for our service users who would benefit from engaging with these agencies.

As a Clinical assessment administrator you will be responsible for developing and maintaining highly efficient record-keeping systems and databases. The successful candidate will therefore need to have good IT skills, be confident in using Excel and have experience in spreadsheet management. A key element of this role requires the post holder to provide administrative and secretarial support to the CAS team, sharing relevant information to members of the public and professionals regarding the service, as well as sending appointment letters and information / intervention packs.  Given the nature of this role it will be imperative that any successful candidate understands the importance of maintaining confidentiality within their practice and will work to ensure data protection is maintained in accordance with relevant policy and procedure and contract requirements.

It is advantageous if you have previous experience of working in this or a similar field, either in the community or a similar environment. We will support you in developing your knowledge to ensure you are able to deliver harm reduction and brief interventions remotely for service users, whilst facilitating a trauma sensitive, warm and non-judgmental approach in your delivery.

In addition, you must be able to demonstrate excellent communication, organisation and time management skills and be confident in managing your own priorities in order to manage a workload with competing demands. You will work to support the effective transition of service users from the CAS team to community treatment services, leaving service users clear on the next steps and motivated to make change. You will have at least five GCSE’s (or equivalent) and although a relevant qualification in office administration, office management, or customer service would be desirable this is not essential.

Just as importantly, you will have a genuine interest in the understanding of substance misuse problems and a positive recovery focused attitude.  You will be keen to develop professionally through our training programme and will demonstrate a high level of integrity and enthusiasm for working within the un-structured direct access ‘front door’ of our service.
