About us: St Blazey Service Station is a family-owned and managed petrol forecourt selling Gulf branded fuels. It includes a Londis branded shop offering tobacco products, an off-license and the National Lottery. 

Position: Forecourt Cashier & Food Preparation Assistant

About the vacancy: This is a highly responsible role which includes till work, the authorisation of sale of motor fuels and the sale of age-restricted products as well as the preparation of fresh foods on site, shop merchandising and cleaning.

Hours: Approximately 28 hours per week and 14 hours per week avalible 

Rate of pay: £8.83 per hour

Term of employment: Permanent

Timing of shifts: We are looking for flexibility over shifts worked. The business operates from 06:45 to 21:00 every day of the week with three shifts worked on week days and two at weekends.

Previous experience: Training will be provided. Experience of working at a forecourt or in a busy customer facing role is desired but not essential. 

Job description:

  • Highly responsible role involving the supervision and authorisation of the sale of hazardous and age-restricted products including petroleum, tobacco, alcohol and the National Lottery
  • Responsible for the safety of customers, staff members and contractors on site
  • Responsible for the security of the site and its facilities
  • Involves the handling of cash and other forms of payment
  • Operation of the till and pump controller to authorise fuel transactions and complete payment
  • Responsible for the opening and closing of the site at the start and end of the day
  • Collate and manage paperwork relating to shifts and communicate with colleagues to relay important information 
  • The role also includes shop merchandising duties, to stock the shelves with products from the store room and to ensure the shop is clean, tidy and presentable at all times
  • Preparation, packaging and labelling of hot and cold foods for sale within the shop
  • Shop merchandising duties, to stock the shelves with products from the store room
  • Ensure the shop is clean, tidy and presentable at all times. Responsible for the cleaning of the shelves and floor in the shop as well as the kitchen and other staff areas
  • Complete and manage required documentation relating to the safe storage and handling of foods and deliveries. Required to fulfil all legal requirements relating to the safe storage and handling of food as well as the display of products and merchandising
