Environmentalist 

The Shetland Gas Plant is located in a very environmentally sensitive area. As a result of a staff promotion at SGP, a vacancy now exists for an Environmentalist. The post holder will report to the SHE Leader and will play a primary role in ensuring all obligations for Environmental compliance, reporting and liaison with the regulators and stake-holders are met, and for monitoring the environmental performance of operations at the Shetland Gas Plant and West of Shetland subsea facilities.

The incumbent will provide advice and coaching on environmental issues to all levels of personnel in order to ensure working practices, procedures and systems meet statutory requirements and industry and Company standards. In addition maintaining and updating the Environmental Management Plan and other related documentation for SGP and related subsea facilities will be a key responsibility.

Candidates should ideally be educated in a relevant subject or hold a suitable professional qualification and relevant experience. Experience of dealing with SEPA or similar, plus knowledge and understanding of Scottish environmental legislation are prerequisites for this role. Good knowledge of EMS, ISO14001 & EMAS are also preferable. Approved Environmental Management System Lead Auditor qualification desirable. WAMITAB qualifications are desirable; however, training will be provided.
