Role Summary

Heading up the Sun division which consists of 8 Area Managers, 150 retail stores and approx. 900 store employees. Leads all stores in the Market to success by developing a high performance team which consistently exceeds expectations and achieves sales, profitability and business growth. This field based position is responsible for developing key initiatives to increase service and value of the retail operation; understands and brings to life for all associates the Vision, Mission and Values of the Company. This role sits within our senior leadership team making key decisions in regards to budget and the annual strategy plan.

Areas of responsibility

People Management

  • Looking after the recruitment and L&D functions for the Sun division. Working with the HR, Training and Area Managers to recruit, coach, train and develop high quality Store Managers and Associates in line with brand requirements
  • Focus efforts on continuously improving organisational structure and end to end processes that drive real customer value. Analysing and reviewing customer feedback to help review training needs across the Sun division
  • Partners with Finance and HR team to suggest, implement and influence the incentive & recognition programs for field population
  • Encourages and models the way for people to communicate openly and transparently acting as an example and being the promoter of our culture. Develops high performance teams by having the right people in the right place at the right time
  • Creates an environment that encourages the development of managers and associates
  • Provides challenging assignments and development opportunities for the field team in cooperation with the Leadership team

Putting customers first

  • Accurately staffs region to respond and address all Customer needs, demonstrating practical ways to respond and stay ahead of competitors. Ensure managers have up-to-date information about procedures, sales and return policies
  • Liaising with other members of the senior leadership team specifically partnering with Product, Planning & Marketing team to ensure all products fit the customer market and brand proposition in each of the 150 stores
  • Manages store and stock presentation standards respecting local and global guidelines on VM, assortment, campaign set up, general store appearance
  • Gains knowledge and understanding of fashion trends, retail trends and competitor activity to provide the best possible customer experience

Deliver great results

  • Meets the performance objectives and informs leadership team of their ongoing progress
  • Regularly communicates with General Manager and the rest of the team on business performance and key issues requiring attention
  • Directs and monitors all sales and operational activities of the Market to ensure Store Operating Profit (SOP) objectives are met, with a special focus on field and stores labour cost control. Process involves travel to individual stores throughout the country
  • Owns operation budgets according to corporate and local guidelines
  • Reviews business costs on an ongoing basis. Sets clear aligned KPIs to monitor business progress and performance
  • Continuously drives the business by analysing key financial data, monitoring operating efficiencies and identifying business trends/opportunities.  Generates reports, uses information to take action to improve performance (sets aggressive action plans and prepares budgets)
  • Communicates, implements and ensures compliance of all company policies, programs, standards and visual presentations in an effective and timely manner
  • Leads compliance, implements and monitor company policies

Job requirements


  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in business/economics or MBA
  • At least 3 years of Managerial experience in a sales based role within primary retail companies in fashion & accessories sectors
  • Excellent People Management skills
  • Analytical skills
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills in English. Further languages will be a valuable asset
  • Comprehensive knowledge of retail operations, processes & business implications
  • Excellent communication & presentation skills
  • Personal requirements: data analysis problem solver, creative, fact driven, reliable & flexible
  • Availability to travel
  • Ability to establish relationships with other departments;
  • Office Package (Excel, Ppt, etc)
