The Education Workforce Council (EWC) is the independent regulator, ensuring professionalism and high standards of conduct and competence within the education workforce in Wales. We regulate on behalf of the public and support education professionals in a variety of roles including teachers and support staff, from the foundation phase through to further education, youth work and work-based learning.

The EWC came into being on 1 April 2015 following a re-naming of the General Teaching Council for Wales and has since progressed and developed in its functions and responsibilities. The EWC continues to grow and evolve and due to retirement is currently looking for a new Director of Finance and Corporate Services to play a key role in shaping the future of an ambitious and impactful organisation.

With significant experience of leading people and managing projects, the new Director will contribute to the overall strategic direction and management of the EWC and will lead on the accreditation of professional programmes, Welsh Government funded activities, communication and policy development. In addition, they will have well-developed negotiating and influencing skills and - due to the EWC’s small and specialist nature - will be flexible in their approach and able to work with people at different levels.

Employee benefits include access to the Civil Service Pension Scheme, flexi-time and 31 days annual leave (excluding 10 bank holidays and privilege days).

The closing date for applications is 11 October 2018. Interviews will be held on 25/26 October 2018. If you would like to have an informal discussion about the role please contact Hayden Llewellyn on 02920 460099.
